adsetup:options
A quick description of each option is provided on this page and will give a high level understanding of what the option does. Additional details for each option are provided as necessary.
Options identified with PRODUCTION OPTION are features that are geared towards running the script in a production environment.
- REQUIRED - Provides the identifying OU that will be created as well as the identifying name of the Group Policy Objects that will be produced.
- This will be used throughout the script to identify the domain name to use while creating the policy files. It defaults to the domain that it is running on, but can be changed.
- This will enable logging a .TXT and .HTML file that will be created in the directory of the script is executed from. To email the .HTML log and a backup copy of the Group Policies check E-mail Log?. Logging is enabled by default, E-mail Log is is not.
- This option will enable Protect object from accidental deletion for the OU's and other AD created objects. Read more about this option in Deployment.
- The logo can be updated in the script. It can be loaded from a file or converted from Base64 string.
- PRODUCTION OPTION This option will create the Base OU in Active Directory and a rudimentary structure. If Link? is checked, the new Group Policies will be linked to the appropriate OU's.
- These options will deploy the Enterprise Computer and Enterprise User policies.
- Checking this will deploy a second set of policies for environments that have a distinct remote solution for users, such as Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop or Windows Remote Desktop Services. Modify the Loopback option for these policies to the desired functionality, Merge or Replace.
- When the Enterprise User and Enterprise Computer policies are checked, the script defaults to creating Group Policy and Group Policy Preferences for both Computer and User. If for some reason a subset of those settings needs to be generated, configure as desired.
- This will update the Favorites, Documents and Desktop to the users Home Directory using the Folder Redirection Group Policy.
- PRODUCTION OPTION If there are required Group Policy changes to the Default Domain policy. Check this option to enable the update of the Default Domain Policy.
- PRODUCTION OPTION - LEGACY - This updates the Default Password Policy for the domain.
- PRODUCTION OPTION This will implement Fine-Grained Password Policies for the following groups Domain Admins, Domain Users and Service Accounts.
- Select the version of Office being deployed and if it should be a distinct Group Policy.
- PRODUCTION OPTION If a source of the ADMX/ADML files exists in the Source folder, $DFSSourceFolderText\$SourcePolicyFilePath and $DFSSourceFolderText\$SourcePolicyFilePath\Office$OfficeProduct copy them to the SYSVOL. If they do not exist in the specified source folder, the Windows ADMX/ADML files will be copied from the local Domain Controller.
- Create a set of basic WSUS policies and some associated groups.
- PRODUCTION OPTION Create a Workstation Local Admin group in the domain. Users that need to be local administrators can be placed into this group.
- File paths for a number of different locations used and set as part of the script.
- Install Folder path is used as the source location for GPP Files.
- Home Folder is used for GPP Drive Mapping and Folder Redirection.
- UserData Folder is used as another location that can be specified for GPP use that the user may not have direct access to.
- Source Folder is a location that might hold the ADMX/ADML files or another location that can be used as part of a GPP.
- Mail Settings - Update the SMTP Server, Email From and E-mail To accordingly and ensure Email Log? is checked.
